About Ape Cave

The longest continuous lava tube in North America. Formed by an eruption of Mount St. Helens 2,000 years ago. Named after the Mount St. Helens Apes, a hiking club. Two sections: lower (easy) and upper (challenging). The lava shelf and flow marks are clearly visible.
