About Melissani Cave
A cenote with a collapsed roof letting sunlight stream in. The underground lake has two chambers. In Greek mythology, the cave was the sanctuary of the nymph Melissani. The water is a mix of sea and fresh water. Discovered when the roof collapsed during an earthquake.
