About Pestera Ursilor

Bears Cave, named for over 140 cave bear skeletons found inside. The bears died around 15,000 years ago when a rockfall sealed the entrance. Complete skeletons lie in the positions where they died. Spectacular stalagmite gardens line the tourist galleries. Discovered in 1975 after blasting in a marble quarry.
